What it is
Permits in AJAEX are a first-class operation type, not a workflow bolt-on. Many permits are raised standalone for contractor, emergency, inspection, or walk-up work, so the permit can act as the primary work-authorisation record. Permit templates can carry legislation and guidance references so teams can show the controls used for each decision.

Eight HSE-aligned permit types
Hot work, confined space, working at height, electrical isolation, lifting, ATEX, asbestos, COSHH. Extensible with your own types.
Rule-driven determination
Work orders stay simple. A rule engine decides whether a permit is needed and which types, based on six scope dimensions (org, location, service category, service class, asset category, hazard attributes) plus schedule. Change a rule; future transitions follow it.
Complete operational lifecycle
Submission, risk assessment, authorisation, acceptance, amendment, suspension, handback, reinstatement, and cancellation, with revalidation and reissue cycles for permit extension. Full lifecycle from request to close-out, with suspension on scope, shift, time, or isolation changes.
Separation of duties (hard-coded)
The user who submits a permit cannot authorise it. Enforced at the pure-function layer and again at the API. Non-configurable. HSE-aligned, non-negotiable.
Structured isolation points (HSG253)
For electrical, disjointing, and confined-space permits: isolated-by / verified-by tracking, test-dead confirmation, LOTO references, photo evidence per isolation point.
Qualification checks
Each permit type declares required qualifications. The system verifies the user holds them before allowing verb execution. Integrates with Compliance & Audit for qualification evidence.
Forensic audit trail
Every signature captures a snapshot of what the signer saw at that moment. Inspectors can reconstruct the state of the permit at every decision point.
Planned Maintenance integration
PM schedules that need a permit can be linked to permit records. Work should not start until the linked permit isn't authorised.
